Vertext Tech Art Bootcamp

I’m interested in taking this Technical Artist boot camp course from the Vertex school:
https://www.vertexschool.com/tech-art-bootcamp

The course covers

  • Python
  • game art pipeline
  • modeling, texturing, and shading,
  • proceduralism
  • shader programming
  • Substance Designer and HLSL/GLSL
  • VFX with Houdini and Niagara
  • focus on environment art.

A little about me. I’m a software engineer with 8 years of experience in C++, C#, and a little bit of Python. I’ve mostly worked on backend systems. I’m interested in switching to tech art. I was thinking this course could give me a good taste for what it’s like to be a technical artist and help me create some pieces for my portfolio. I’m also taking a 3D character art course from Elvtr to help me better understand the 3D asset pipeline.
If the courses goes well I am considering a masters program for tech art such as SCAD, UCF’s FIEA, or University of Utah’s MEAE.

I was curious if anyone had heard of The Vertex School and their courses? I could find much online.
Also what do you think about the topics that are covered? I know tech art is very broad and there are way more topics than can be covered in a 15-week course. I am really just looking for a good starting point with assignments and feedback.
