LabelMatic Annotation Tool for Maya

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a new Maya plugin I’ve been working on called LabelMatic. It’s a lightweight annotation tool that displays live attribute values directly in the viewport — either as 3D text or a HUD overlay.

It’s been really handy for rigging and animation workflows, so I figured some of you might find it useful too.

Key features:
• Real-time attribute display
• 3D world-space text or HUD mode
• Customizable size, color, transparency, and grouping
• Namespace-friendly setups for referenced rigs
• Resolution and DPI compensation across machines
• Gradient-driven color and transparency

Common uses:
• Debugging rigs and spotting unexpected values
• Animators checking key attributes at a glance
• Soft warnings when going beyond suggested limits
• Python tools showing live HUD info without extra UI
• TDs turning technical attributes into readable labels
• Shot reviews with clean, lightweight HUD elements

If anyone tries it, I’d love to hear feedback or ideas for improvements.

Cheers,
Arda
