Maya - Set Driven Key Influence

Hey everybody! This is my first time posting on the site, so sorry if I sound green.

I have been working on a vehicle rig for the past couple of weeks and I have run into an issue with set driven keys.
After keying a control using set driven keys, animation for the driven control cannot be adjusted or keyed separately from the animation curve linked to the driver controller. This of course is the main function of set driven keys, but I am wondering if there is a way to blend two or more influences. I would like to have the functionality of the set driven key, but also be able to animate the driven controls further. Is there any method to do this? Should I approach this rig function another way completely?

Because of the issue, I disabled a couple of instances where I used set driven keys, seen in this video: rotating the wheels based on the position of the main controller, wheelie, and low side crash “slide”
Thanks for any help!

You could use a blending node to blend the SDKs on or off or (this is what I’d do) you could use an offset group to store the SDKs and have the animation free on the actual controller. I hope this makes sense.

Ah yes! This does makes since. So I would be influencing a group instead of the actual controller.
Haha I feel like a knucklehead now.

Thanks for your help Wuffles! I will let you know if I get it working.

Hehe, no problem! I definitely had a total “Doh!” moment when I was shown this too!
