Wow! We've got a forum!

At the VFX Roundtable this year we were discussing ways that we could more effectively share ideas and communicate within the VFX community. Because of the heavy cross over between technical art and visual effects, we thought TAO could be a great place to start while we contemplate a permanent home (or maybe we’ll just stay here and mooch off Rob!)

We also have a facebook group (Real Time VFX) where we’re building momentum for organizing meet ups and the like. The details are TBD, but what’s important is that we’re starting to share ideas and everyone doesn’t have to reinvent the same friggin’ wheel every day at work! That’s progress

Thanks Rob for getting this forum set up!

Drew

Awesome! I’ll convince the rest of my department to sign up and join the fun

Why are we such a secretive community? This is probably the only forum where I’ve found other vfx artists. I was in discussions regarding this over at VFXTalk but since there were like three of us, we never got our own forum.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, since nobody knows we exist, no students come out of school wanting to be VFX artists so there are always tons of open positions for us. :D:

exciting stuff!

It’s a bit empty in here… Needs more explosions.

Facebook group: Redirecting...

Brace yourselves, the Codemasters are coming…

if I don’t see an image macro, I won’t believe it.

Yay! No more trawling through polycount for the one vfx post out of 500…

So much codies. Omg

Get back to work so I can interrogate you about the roundtables! :):

And here’s another one from Codies!

I think I may be an exception to that rule. I decided that I wanted to do game FX in my senior year in college, and hit it hard. Been doing it over here at Vicious since last June, and loving every minute of it.

I’m so glad there’s a forum for us now. Hey, it got me out of my lurker status

Our numbers are growing!!!

:D: great! the VFX guys at my company will love this!

VFX much like Tech art, people end up falling in to it because no one else will do it and then it becomes a full time job:) To bad because it can be really fun and creative if the support is there for it, students should be aware of it and have the chance to learn. I am glad Rob is providing a gathering place for you.

I always wanted to be a cool guy who does explosions  This will be good as VFX knowledge/hell even people talking about it is rare.

Makes two of us  But we are a minority I believe. I’m not saying it makes sense since there is nothing I’d rather do. It’s by far the coolest job on the project.

oohh. a VFX forum, Nice. Hello all Codies friends!

Same here. Decided I wanted to do FX during my internship with THQ San Diego between my junior and senior years of school. Spent as much of senior year as I could focusing!

This is exciting!! Thank you Rob!

This is awesome!
