Technical Visual FX Artist

Job Description:
Frostburn Studios has big plans for Heroes of Newerth! We are looking for a Technical Artist with a penchant for visual effects to help us to create the most captivating and unforgettable gaming experiences.

Responsibilities:
Strong understanding of particle systems.
Solve technical problems as they relate to effects for new and existing heroes.
Create high quality visual effect assets for new heroes and avatars.
Adjust shaders to accommodate product needs.
Assist with production setup and configuration tasks.
Add and modify engine features related to game logic and graphics.
Test new software, tools, and pipeline improvements.
Maintain an awareness of production resource utilization.
Be willing and able to learn new software, programming languages, and techniques that are required to fulfill duties.
Help artists with everyday blocking issues with content tools and workflow.
Setup and manage technical pipelines related to production (i.e. source file management/streaming/visibility/collision/physics materials/asset tracking)
Ensure all game assets meet production technical standards requirements.
Work with tools developers to augment and enhance content creation tools.
Create tools, samples, and documentation to augment and enhance 3D content creation.
Create, test and maintain character rigs/setups.
Qualifications:
Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
Excellent customer service, time management and communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and in team settings.
Proactive and highly motivated.
Must have strong knowledge of modern game environment development principles and techniques.
Be able to rapidly grasp new technical concepts and quickly become proficient in new content tool chains.
Some programming and scripting experience is required, specifically with HLSL, GLSL, CGFX, Mel, MaxScript, Python, Lua and/or C#.
Basic Animation skills.
