Live online group reviews

Hello everyone.

At the suggestion of @Theodox, there’s an initiative to set up some live online group portfolio reviews. Artists interested could sign up as both/either reviewers and presenters and we could do a group session zoom meeting (or something of the sort).

The idea is to present a portfolio/demo and then have that reviewed, both for a predetermined amount of time.

This thread was started to ideate and iterate with the hope of a trial meeting organized and held at around the end of Q3.

Looking forward to the discussion and suggestions!

Thanks guys!

If anybody has a doc on “portfolio review best practices”, please share, it’ll help make the experience a bit more predictable for all concerned.

Thread bump Would like more people to respond to the poll before making any more decisions about the format. In the meantime, I’m going to throw another poll up for timing on the sessions. Leaving out summer months – lots of people are not available --but here’s a choice of when we could schedule a trial run.

What month would work best for you as either a reviewer or a review-seeker?

  • October '24
  • November '24
  • December '24
  • January '25

Bumping this up since folks could’ve been on holiday.

Here’s what I’m thinking now:

  • We’ll do separate sessions for North-America centric and a Europe-centric time zones, in the local “evening”.
    • When we post a signup sheet, we’ll ask for availability and do a best fit to find times and dates, but it looks like October is the popular tirmeframe.
  • Each session will be a live zooms with all reviewers and all the submitters together – this will let everybody learn from the lessons of individual portfolios.
  • Each session will run for an hour, which should give us time to run through four portfolios at about 15 minutes each.
  • We’ll do separate signups for reviewers and for submitters, so we can track priority in case we have an overflow.

How does that all sound to folks?

Hey all! If you are interested in being a portfolio reviewer for one of our sessions, please fill out this google form. Once we see how many people are available for what times, we’ll schedule the sessions (separately in North American and European times).

The only qualification to be a reviewer is to have been professionally employed as a TA for at least a year, and to be willing to give some time back to the community. Pitch in and help out the next generation!
