White color when skinning

Hey all,

I am having this problem where when I move with my right arm, vertices move on my left. I have been checking my skinning but the only thing I found is this white color on the area that is troublesome. This white color is visible when I select one of my 5 spinebones. I can select it and set 0 weight on it, but when I want to clean this up on every spinebone, it always comes back.

Somebody has an idae how to fix this?

if your using maya… use the replace tool and set your value to -1 to ensure nothing will be there. Also make go to the skin tab in the animation drop down, then go to edit smooth skin options, and select set max influence and increase to to about 10 in case your maintain max influence was checked on. You should be set from there, if not select the vertices that are moving and go to your component editor and check under the smooth skin tab if there are any joints that are influencing those certain verts that you do not want and if there are just make them 0. I hope that helps.

Ow excuse me. I forgot to tell. I use max 2009. I have solved it by selecting all the affected vertices and do reset selecterd vertices.

Thanks for the reply

lol oh arite. ya max is an entire different world to me, but I’m glad you fixed your problem.

check if ur “Always deform” is unchecked or not. Its under advanced parameters in ur skin modifier. I’m not so sure abot the color coding, as in what does white stands for. But as far as I can think, it means that the mesh is not connected with the bone setup. Lemme know if that worked.
