Volition, the THQ studio that created Saints Row and Red Faction, is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Technical Animator. The Senior Technical Animator will work with the Technical Art Director, Character Artists and Animators to help push the quality of in-game characters and animation. This role involves not only the chance to work with the animation team in developing high-quality rigs, but also the opportunity to improve on existing art and animation pipelines.

Responsibilities

[li]Create and maintain �animator-friendly rigs[/li]
[li]Develop tools & refine pipelines for the character and animation production process, including the integration of keyframe, mocap, procedural, and run-time dynamic animation [/li]
[li]Help track efficiency of asset pipeline and processes throughout the life of the project, improving and enhancing them where necessary [/li]
[li]Work with other disciplines to ensure the quality of the characters and animation for all aspects of the project [/li]
[li]Create and maintain documents outlining animation needs, including in-game animation, motion capture shoots, and animation critiques [/li]
[li]Check assets for technical integrity before integrating them into the game[/li]
[/ul]Qualifications
[ul]
[li]Fluent knowledge of at least one major 3D software package (Max, Maya, XSI). MAX experience preferred[/li][li]Must be able to work comfortably with common scripting languages (MAX script, MEL script, Python, etc.) [/li][li]Must demonstrate initiative and strong problem-solving skills in regard to all types of rigging and animation techniques. A deep understanding of character budgets and memory limitations is recommended [/li][li]Must have experience working with both motion capture and keyframe data pipelines[/li][/ul]Sample Work Required

[li]Samples, demonstrations or documentation of toolspipelines developed to overcome past challenges [/li][li]Samples of key-frame and/or mocap animation sequences (online preferred) [/li][li]Samples of traditional fine art skills (sketchbook drawings, paintings, etc.) are encouraged, but not required [/li][/ul]All samples must be accompanied by a description of each, with specific information on what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc.

Relocation to Champaign, Illinois is required.
