Tools development

I am now making my first tool for making it easy to setup your hitregionboxes for your sprites. And then that data will be exported to be used in a game-engine. (It’s for 2D games)

My question is : Are there thing I have to keep in mind when developing a tool? Because now I’am trying to get it working but I don’t really have a progress in mind. So is there a progres I have to keep in mind when making this tool?

I hope you understand me :s

Sorta depends. If you’re making a tool for public consumption, then i’d say consider your userbase. Talk to the people you’re making the tool for and get an idea for their expected workflow/interaction. Altho i guess even if you’re just making it for yourself, same rule applies. Consider workflow, implement first abstract later, that sort of thing.
