The Character Animator Toolkit for Motion Builder-blog updates

Autodesk this month put up the last of 4 new training videos I created for them on Motionbuilder. I have links from the blog or you can find them on the www.the-area.com also.

The latest one is how to do something useful with the built in ragdoll physics solver in Motionbuilder 2009.

There are also ones on more complex editing of two characters interacting, working with story tools, retrageting prop data etc.

All of this is up for free, I have some other new tips and posts on the blog also…so if you have Motionbuilder at your studio and are still scratching your head at it, check it out.

***a side note, Autodesk on large does not really know why or that you can even do some of the things that Chad and I cover in the masterclass, so if you send in a file with it all custom like we show how to build; well they tend to freak out. Feel free to contact us on email first or cc us in your support request to Autodesk so that your issue can get the attention it deserves:) and you don’t send any Autodesk QA guys in to a panic when they open the file.

if you never heard of this blog or the masterclass that it came from, here is a quick bit of info on it

* 100+ pages of course notes.
* 1.5 hour video recording of the Master Class presentation at SIGGRAPH.
* Two video walk throughs of the keyframe animation process in MotionBuilder.
* Many example videos and files for rigging our character.
* Python scripts for an alternate finger posing and keyframing methodology.
