Position Overview
With a strong background in both 3D Art and technology, The Technical Artist is responsible for working in partnership with our central art department to produce character art assets and working with SE’s to further develop the texture tuning specific to that game.
The product is called “GameFace” and can be seen on http://easports.com The feature essentially allows you to upload your face photo and then creates a 3D model and displays this in our store directly on the web (live online in 3D!). It then allows you to download this directly into a game. It is currently in use in FIFA10
a) Game team integration: this will involve modeling the face and tune it to make it work for individual games like Madden, NBA, etc. The work is mostly artistic, centering on using previously written tools and this requires intermediate modeling and texturing ability
b) Store improvements: this work involves integrating assets into our store like more hair styles, different facial hair types, etc. Some of this requires texture painting (beards for example), and a majority of this is on the technical side where you process the results provided by the central art team.
Requirements:
- cinematic and/or games production experience, with strong character construction background
- production experience in various stages of modeling, texturing and Photoshop at very proficient level
- Intermediate scripting experience with MEL and experience running several scripts to process the art
- Ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations which scale well
- Proficiency with Maya to the extent of being able to author and troubleshoot character models and rigging
-Experience writing (or working with Software Engineers to write) new game specific formats for the head data in a compressed format
