Job Description
The Technical Artist acts as a bridge between the Artists and Programmers working on our games. They ensure art assets can be easily integrated into a title without sacrificing either the overall artistic vision or exceeding the technical limits of the chosen platform.
The Technical Artist works as part of the art team, working closely with the Lead Artist and the Creative Director, as well as the Lead Programmers.
What you can expect to do in your new gig:
Assist the Art Director with troubleshooting, engineering, and documenting workflows, providing the technical support for the art department.
Acting as the liaison between the Art and Programming departments
Work closely with all groups to ensure a smooth running art pipeline and an optimized game
Research and be proactive at identifying potential issues with the content creation of the game
Resolve issues related to game art that negative effect game play or performance
Champion ideas on behalf of the art department
Be fluent in 3D modeling software, scripting in Mel or Python
Skills & Requirements
Your qualifications include:
A Technical Artist who excels at troubleshooting and providing technical support for the art department. You have 5+ years of development experience and you are credited on at least two game titles.
A liaison between art and programming. You work and play well with others (artists & programmers) and you will ensure a smooth running art pipeline and an optimized game.
Experienced working with game engine technology. Whether licensed or proprietary, you have a working knowledge of game engine technology.
Inquisitive: In cases where you don’t know the answer, you are excited to learn and apply new technologies and techniques to figure it out
Iterative: You understand that the present is just a stepping stone to the future. Your focus is on what is next. And then what’s next after that. And then what’s next after that.
Articulate: Whatever your style of communication, you convey your ideas completely because you understand that collaboration is healthiest when concepts are clear.
