Technical Artist - Blue Castle Games (Vancouver)

Over the past four years, Blue Castle Games has brought together 160 of the most talented minds in the industry, shipping three titles in the process and are currently creating Capcom’s Dead Rising 2. We have lots of new exciting work to be done, that’s where you come in.

A Technical Artist at Blue Castle Games can proactively identify the artists’ needs, proposing then delivering an effective workflow and the tools to support it. Extensive scripting work in Maya, Max and Photoshop will be required. You will provide support to the production pipeline whilst working as a liaison between the engineering, art, animation and design teams.

An equal combination of a strong visual sensibility and deep technical knowledge is a necessity. Experience in world, character or animation creation is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement and improve content creation workflows
  • Script, edit and source tools, gismos and widgets for Maya, Max, Photoshop and other packages
  • Problem solve, troubleshoot and wrangle issues with world, prop and character production
  • Manage and maintain our art production pipelines whilst constantly driving improvements and enhancements
  • Maintain the technical integrity of the content throughout production

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2 shipped Xbox360 or PS3 titles, credited as Technical Artist or similar
  • Expert level usage of Maya or Max with proven advanced scripting ability
  • Knowledge of and experience with real-time shaders and visual FX
  • Proven track record of working effectively with artists, engineers and their leads
  • Strong attention to technical detail whilst having an excellent eye for form, colour and tone
  • Insight into the methods and techniques used to produce the finest of today’s game visuals
