Technical Art Director
Description
Responsibilities:
Work with the art director in developing a unique and cohesive visual style.
Work within the game engine to integrate art assets, create VFX, and optimize for mobile platform.
Ensure top quality throughout the entire production process.
Create assets ranging from 3D environments to characters.
Become skilled with and support our tools and processes for content development through documentation, teaching, and end user support.
Review art assets for technical compliance.
Process art assets for the asset management system.
Maintain integrity of art pipelines by identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements.
Facilitate communication between artists, 3rd party teams, and programmers.
Collaborate with leadership to promote innovation and refine the visual quality of our games.
Write tools for artists and support them throughout production in products such as Maya, Photoshop, etc.
Development of content generation and modification tools.
Troubleshoot issues as they arise and offer solutions to help our content teams to be the most effective.
Requirements:
Expert knowledge of game engines such as Unity and Unreal including: animation, lighting, meshes, and shaders.
Expert knowledge of 3D art pipelines and the processes involved from the conceptual phase to implementation.
Expert knowledge of Photoshop (ability in texturing and able to work in pixels).
Able to effectively collaborate with artists, game designers and programmers.
Independent and versatile.
Experience with developing shaders for multiple styles ranging from realistic to cel-shaded.
Understanding of engine lighting from light maps to dynamic lights.
