The team is currently very small and at the beginning of the development cycle. We are looking for someone willing to be a “jack of all trades” within the art department, overseeing the technical aspects of the art pipeline but also willing to contribute and create assets, as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Develop appropriate art pipelines and workflows, working in conjunction with the art team and software engineers.
• Troubleshoot and solve technical art production issues.
• Develop tools, scripts or plugins to streamline art processes, workflows and pipelines.
• Participate in pre-production planning to determine and address technical design requirements and issues, including writing specification documents for art-related features and tools.
• Train artists, including off-site artists, in the skills necessary to execute the art path efficiently.
• Participate in visual prototyping, research and development efforts.
• Work with the engineering and art teams to identify and fix performance bottlenecks and optimize performance across a variety of system specs.
• Occasional asset creation as needed, which could include modeling, texturing, visual effects or animation.
Required Qualifications:
• Industry experience as a technical artist with credits on several shipped titles.
• Proficient with 3ds MAX and Photoshop, including 3D modeling and texturing.
• Expert-level skills in XML, 3D graphics, content pipelines and shaders.
• Able to clearly and openly communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
Optional Qualifications:
• High level shader authoring expertise.
• Visual effects or animation experience.
• Experience working with an external art team, preferably a team overseas.
