It seems to me that once upon a time there was a school up in the bay area that had all of their courses online… in the vein of Animation Mentor or CGSociety except this place specialized in Tech artist courses… They offered courses in Scripting, Rigging and Shader Writing… That sort of thing… Does any one know if they are still around or what happened to them…?

looks like they just added them, day in the life of a TD kind of deal.
And thanks for the Rigging Mentor plug,we are a more focused on character rigging and setup in Maya and MotionBuilder and don’t cover the rendering/shading side of things like TD-College offers.

Really wish these were available when I was choosing my college. I could have split up between Rigging Mentor and TD-College and gotten about 10x more knowledge at about 1/10 the price. I’m definitely pumped about both of these.

There was something starting up called TD-Academy. I remember seeing a post about it on CG Society. I had just registered for Animation Mentor and noticed that TD-Academy strived to be similar, but with a focus on TD duties of course.
From what I understand, there were some issues with investors. I don’t know what happened after that though. Shame.

Hello Everyone.
TD-Academy was the initial name that we where going to use. We had some issues with the investors so we had to separate. We are now called TD-College (www.td-college.com) and we are still going on.
We currently have some kick ass courses in python and MEL programming. We also have some Houdini, RealFlow and RenderMan courses. Our first character course will be ready by the end of the month.
We also just introduced a new type of course called “Independent Studies Option”. These courses are cheaper than a mentored course (about half the price) and you get more time to complete the assignments (double the time).
