Hi, my name is Christopher Emerson. I recently finished work on Dance Central 3 at Backbone Entertainment that we have been co-developing with Harmonix. Now I am looking for my next opportunity. My role during development was both a Character Artist and a supporting Tech Artist for our character art team. I would be a good fit for any studio that values the following:
[ul]
[li]Maya Python/Mel Tool Development[/li]I have experience developing an assortment of workflow enhancing Maya tools. Some of the areas I have addressed include retopology modeling, asset management, motion trail improvements, and cross-app communication with Photoshop and Perforce. As a Tech Artist with a track record of both large scale tools and small scale scripts, I would be a versatile employee with a unique development history to pull from.
[/ul]
[ul]
[li]Lighting and Shader Programming[/li]I’m an avid Mental Ray user very interested in applying its principles to a real-time environment. I have experience with light mapping in Unity and UDK, as well as in Maya using Mental Ray’s specific lightmap utilities. With shaders I have explored BRDF spec and diffuse models in both UDK and Unity.
[/ul]
[ul]
[li]Professional Game Art Experience[/li]Having worked as a Character Artist, I have firsthand experience with the art workflow and common bottlenecks. Seeking other artists feedback on addressing them is also a large part of my process. I would be happy to help with texturing and modeling tasks just as I have at Backbone, though that is ultimately up to how you decide I can be of the greatest assistance.
