I engaged a terrible problem:The rigging for the feather.
I’ve checked the Pixar’s bird(the short film). The feather’s rigging is awesome!Fantastic!Anyone knows how to achieve or almost achieve that?Ideas or directions are all ok and welcome and appreciate very much!
It really depends on what the feather needs to do. Does it stand alone? does it need to interact with other feathers? In what way? Many questions there to answer before you can determine how to rig it. If the feathers are individual, an FK joint chain might be all you need. If they need to do far more crazy things, than a more complex rig might be in order.
Thank you very much, bros, for all the informations above.I’ll check it deeply and try to make a feed back if i get any test results or experiences.
The feather’s effect really challenged me a lot,and i think i should combine a pack of solutions together. Before ur reply,I extracted the surface curve and connected the feather pieces to the bird’s body via motion path setup to obtain the body movement.Right now i’m still in testing, hope it works~~
Yes it works! The pieces matched the body movement quite well. Now i’m gonna fix the wing.
I’ve checked the Tyson’s method. That’s a good way(thank u JayG Bro~).But my wing is more complicate,so i plan to use the driven key to define the angle of each piece on the wing.
