Anyone know if it’s possible to display specific mipmap levels of a file texture node that uses a DDS file? I’m using Maya 2009 and 2011.
Within Maya itself, I do not know of a way to specify which mipmap is drawn (or a way to simply view a DDS file’s mipmaps for that matter). If you just need a handy method to view the various mipmaps of a given fill, check out Nvidia’s WTV (Windows Texture Viewer) app. WTV is a free, light-weight viewer that provides access to all sorts of DDS file attributes, including individual mipmaps.
Note: While in the WTV app, use the left and right arrow keys to step though the opened DDS file’s mipmaps.
