Rockstar North is looking for a Character Skinning and Pipeline Artist to work with us to create the next generation of characters.
In this role you will provide support throughout the character production process working closely with artists in the character team; using our rigs to skin character bodies and faces, and prepare them technically for export. A reel/portfolio demonstrating exceptional 3DStudio Max based skinning skills is a prerequisite. Additional skills in secondary areas such as character art/modelling are prized, and knowledge of rig creation and character topology is it relates to animation is also a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Use predefined character rigs and tools to effectively skin both bodies and faces on character assets.
• Work with the team to create balanced solutions to all related technical and aesthetic issues.
Requirements:
• Positive, solution-oriented individual with a passion for game development.
• A demo reel which demonstrates exceptional skill in skinning human figure game assets for animation, both body and faces.
• Understanding of human body and facial anatomy as it relates to game assets and topology
• Excellent understanding of development workflows as they relate to getting character assets into game engines.
• Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a self-directed manner and to make timely, well-thought out decisions.
• Bachelors Degree in Art or from a competitive program is preferred.
• Additional skills such as current game character art creation/modelling, rig creation are a plus.
• The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in video games development.
• Advanced knowledge in 3D Studio Max is preferred; Maya users or equivalent 3D program will also be considered.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work closely in a team setting with other departments.
Preferred:
• Production experience with PS3, XBOX 360, and/or PC.
