There is always some debate about length of reels, for me personally this one is to long. You don’t need to show every feature of the script.
Im not a fan of the text presentation either, the white box in the corner with the text on doesn’t look very appealing or professional.
I might consider adding in some rendered animation of results from the tools, just to break it up a little save it all being screencast.
At the end it freezes on one frame for almost 5 seconds, this makes it seem as if you couldn’t be bothered to clean it up, I’m not suggesting thats the case, just saying thats how it appears.
The tool itself looks pretty good to me.
I hope some of this has been useful, these are all just my personal opinions, so someone with a bit more experience may be able to offer better advice.
I had trouble finding a way to make it all clear and simple, so tried those boxes with text, and I do kinda agree they dont look that good, so I will consider other options.
The freeze thing I didnt notice, so have to check that.
Thanks again for the input, and for liking the tool:)
Im not a fan of the text presentation either, the white box in the corner with the text on doesn’t look very appealing or professional.
This is related to something that has annoyed me for a long time. Are we supposed to make a demo reel to show how good we are at video compositing or rigging? I’ve seen a lot of good reels being pushed down because they didn’t have professional editing. I think the reel showed some good aspects.
They way I see it, you are trying to sell something (yourself), yes your not applying for an editing position, but if the editing is poor then the final product wont be advertised/represented as well or be as appealing as it could be.
Yeh people can see past bad editing if they want to, but you have to remember they are more than likely going to be watching quite a few reels, so you want to do all you can to make it stand out and make it more appealing.
The way my professors have always put it to me is that it’s my job to create the best presentation possible just as much as it’s the recruiter/hiring manager’s job to see through bad editing.

+1
Although I have mentioned before in other posts that the length can be long if the reel has solid presentation.
That’s also why having poor animation or poor editing can really drag your reel down. It’s your work, give it all the love it deserves.
