In case some people missed it we went through a recent name adjustment and I wanted to make sure people were not confused.

Excerpt:

RiggingMentor.com is pleased to announce a site name change to RiggingDojo.com!

We are still the same group of guys that are solely focused on training and educating students, professionals, and companies, in the art and science of character rigging and setup. We feel that to help set us apart from the rest of the CG training and mentoring sites that you can find out there, we needed a name that is unique to the field, as well as a name that describes the type of education that you can receive from us. We are a mentor-based education online school, which means you will always get a professional that is working in the field to train you in the technical arts.

Thanks everyone,
Brad

Thanks Brad. Looks like you should change your title now too.

Oh and I picked up our 3D Advanced Rigging book two weeks ago, trying to teach myself some advanced rigging techniques.

Ah thanks Aylwin, fixed:)

And make sure you go to the blog, I updated the links to the book download section and there is a new version of chapter 8 up on the blog.

Good luck and ping me if you hit a problem or need something that is not on the site.

I’ve been trying for two days to come up with some witty joke about how you should have dojo challenges with other rigging dojos and take their signs and such, but alas I am not teh funny.

This name is much cooler.

Well, thanks for the effort:) and yeah we like the new name better as well,

I am all for a Siggraph Rigging SUMO match, our own version of “Fjorg”

All joking aside, I really like the deeper meaning,
A dojo (道場, dōjō?) is a Japanese term which literally means “place of the way”.

Martial arts combine both technical execution and knowledge of anatomy with the art of movement , taking both art and science and applying them in beautiful and effective ways. The same thing maps to character rigging, it takes a blending of skills to be effective, to build animation friendly characters.

There are several other parallels that apply as well so I think it is a great fit for our name.
