Hello,
I have recently joined a project and I was handed a rigged and animated model that needs to be re-sized, and a joint added to each foot. I have never rigged in 3ds max, in fact I haven’t worked in 3ds max in a long time.
So while I am trying to relearn where everything is located in there interface I also need to figure out how to re-size and add joints to this rigged model. I have tried a few techniques I have found online but I can not get any to work. So I was wondering how I could re-size the rigged model as well as add a joint to each foot going down to the toes. I have attached the files just so people can look at it and see if maybe there is something in the file it is preventing me from being able to rescale it or if I am just messing up somewhere along the line.
I don’t expect anyone to actually do this for me just point me in the right direction to get this stuff done. I have been trying to figure it out for about a week now. Thank you for any and all help.
I checked the file, its a CAT rig. I haven’t worked on CAT tools b4 but I’m sure there must a global scale option. If I’m guessing it rite then it shud be the circle at the bottom. All rigging tools in every software has the same functionality with few variation in process and features. CAT tool must be having the rigs attributes on the modify panel. There shud be an option to add more joints if you are adding toe to it. If this doesn’t work then jus add one bone from the create panel and link it with the foot bone. When u rescale the rig, since the mesh is skinned(attached) to the rig, the mesh may scale in a weird manner. To avoid that, b4 scaling select the skin modifier, go to advance parameters and save the skin. Delete the modifier, scale the rig and the mesh, reset xform the mesh, add skin modifier, add the bones, go back to advance parameters and load the skin. Sorry I don’t have CAT plugin with me, I wud have done it myself. Anyway, lemme know if this helped. And if you still face any issue, feel free to share.
