how to zero Rotate Axis (Offset Rotatation Axis) and preserve orientation of Local Rotation Axis in Maya?
Greetings~ in such case i’d keep that channel with the value. If there’re any other transformation requirement i could back to zero axis conveniently . U might group this stuff that maintains rotation for further usages , and lock the rotate channel down for preventing to be freezed by accident. I usually did this when i was punching to the setup phase after modeling , as well as i passed the models noted about the locked pre-rotations to the animators who gonna rig em.
In another case ,u might wanna reset the axis of an rotated and transform freezed stuff . What i always did is making it snap to another proper model (like a new cube) along the face normal with the Snap together tool in the Modify menu, u may try this process twice from 2 directions to obtain the right status . Hope this could help.
