Requesting more Tech Artist Interviews

Hullo Tech-artists.org

I for one would love some more interviews with Technical Artists posted up on tech-artists.org. I’m sure it’s not easy to setup and do, but I think all of us here would appreciate and benefit from some more.

Cheers!

Hi Damon,

I’ve been running into more and more companies that actively look for technical artists for their staff, and you’re right, there aren’t that many of them (comparatively with other disciplines). I’ve noticed that the people who pursue that path typically embrace learning, and are very self driven. It is through this that many people find their way into being a tech artist, no one holds your hand and tells you what it is in college.

I think the best way to increase the number is to keep your eye out for people in our industry who have an inquisitive nature, and encourage them to expand their knowledge base. I know some people are worried what would happen to us as a community if we got too large (it was a roundtable discussion topic at GDC) but I think overall the gaming industry would benefit greatly from having more multi-lingual facilitators out there.

Good interviews like Adrian did are unfortunately not easy. If you want to interview someone for TAO, feel free to set one up- anyone can make content for the site. I’m going to be making a content push over the coming months, so any content people are comfortable helping out with would be much appreciated by myself and all of our readers.

It may to help to have a sort of “Content Wanted List” so people can see what’s needed and contribute there. Maybe utilize the wiki somehow for that.

There is a “Most Requested Articles” section on the Wiki, anyone who is interested should dive right in!
