Ready At Dawn Studios is looking for a Tech Artist


Ready At Dawn is seeking a Technical Artist to work on our new original IP, 3rd person action adventure game for a home console game system. Successful applicants demonstrate strong problem solving skills, familiarity with the workflow and challenges across a broad range of disciplines in game development, and a proficiency in creating animation rigs, scripting various tools for content creation, and maximizing the team’s production efficiency through various pipeline and tools improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and implement artist tools for use in Maya
  • Improve art pipelines, focus on reducing artist iteration time and maximizing visual polish
  • Prototype and pitch creative and engine-efficient art solutions for complex visual problems
  • Work closely with artists and programmers to develop artist friendly technologies and prioritize feature roll-out
  • Debug pipeline issues as needed and propose solutions to solve them cleanly
  • Rig and skin various models

Position Requirements:

  • Strong balance of technical, aesthetic, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of rigging and animation in Maya
  • Diverse mel/python scripting skills
  • Strong understanding of general artistic aesthetics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to filter diverse feedback from artists, designers, and programmers and propose effective solutions
  • Passion for and broad knowledge of games and game development, with an ability to critically analyze them

Additional Skills (Pluses)

  • Strong python scripting skills are a HUGE plus
  • Previous motion capture experience
  • Experience in authoring a wide array of tools (animation, environment construction, modeling, fx, etc)
  • Any additional programming skills are a plus
