did they say when it’s going to be available?
This will definitely make tool deployment easier with regards to Qt.
New releases are usually made around Siggraph time i think, though i may be wrong on that.
if they follow the same pattern from the past couple of years, actually most packages are released sometime late April.
So they list Python 2.7, PySide 1.1.1, and Qt 4.8.2. There are currently pyside binaries for windows for
- PySide 1.2, Qt 4.8
- PySide 1.1.1, Qt 4.7
None of these line up Do we need to compile our own version of pyside to match maya if we want to use scripts outside of maya?
April 12th is the release I think.
One thing you should really investigate before you rejoice too much is the state of development for PySide. Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a great move. But it would have been a slam dunk when PySide was still fully supported at Nokia. Now that Digia owns Qt and PySide is on it’s own, it’s a completely different situation. I just can’t find out if there’s any active development going on with it any more in the open source community.
