Hello everyone, I’ve been messing around with FaceFX and I decided to post this video here of my project. The Rigging/Weighting, Posing, and Phonome Mapping was done by me and I’m using the Slade Complex Facegraph Setup. I’m hoping to get a longer audio clip uploaded/edited by me in the future as part of my portfolio. I’m not really concentrating on editing/animating of it too well, but i just want to get the point across in my Character Rigging Demo reel that I know how to rig and prep a mesh for FaceFX. Because rigging for video games is what I would like to get into.
I would really appreciate some comments and critiques on my current work so far.
Just a quick thing, don’t forget the neck/throat movement ears and scalp. With a little more weight painting and overlapping regions you can add lots of life to a simple rig.
Right now all the deformation and movement is feeling a bit stiff and localized.
I believe I’ve spent about 9 days or so working on this, I took my time on it.
Here is another video of the same rig but animated in Maya instead. It’s just me putting him in some random extreme position to show off the weights. How do they look here? Because maybe the anim in FaceFx just isn’t exaggerating the movements of the head enough.
better but looks like neck is coming from the head rotation not jaw… compare with link video… I stick with my initial comments…check your weight falloffs:)
Thanks a lot for the advice I understand what you mean now.
I’m going to improve my weights from the jaw rotation. I’m also looking into the normal map wrinkles in FaceFx as well for the Scalp regions.
