Axis Animation, best known for creating CG trailers for games, including Dead Island, Halo 4 Spartan Ops and Fable, is looking to hire experienced Maya Technical Directors to maintain, support and trouble-shoot new and existing Maya workflows, through close collaboration with our Rigging, Layout, Animation and Pipeline teams.
The ideal candidate should have a deep knowledge of animation pipelines and workflow, and have previous experience in a similar role.
Candidates are required, and must be eligible at time of application, to work on-site in Glasgow, starting in April for a minimum of 6 months, with likelihood of work stretching beyond this.
Responsibilities :
• Maintain, and improve where necessary, techniques and processes that increase animation quality and efficiency across disciplines, departments and teams.
• Work closely with the Rigging, Layout, Animation and Pipeline team to develop processes to solve production and project challenges
• Write utility scripts and tools to streamline new or updated processes and workflows where necessary
• Work with production management and department leads to prioritize tasks
• Keep CG Supervisor and/or leads and management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues
Requirements and Skills :
• Industry experience as a technical artist with knowledge of content driven pipelines
• Degree level qualification in a related subject (e.g. arts, design, computer sciences)
• Strong creative problem solving skills
• In-depth knowledge of Maya
• Houdini experience beneficial
• Significant Python experience required
• Experience with PyQt / pySide is preferred
• Experience with Perforce beneficial
• Some MEL experience beneficial
• Any motion capture experience is highly beneficial
• Ability to clearly communicate with technical and non-technical team members
• Ability to quickly learn new software applications
• Ability to support themselves and to work under their own initiative
