Maya: Occlusion style ramp shader?

Hello,

I’m wondering whether it’s at all possible to create some sort of ramp using maya software which takes the same info an occlusion node would, so that the parts of a model that are closer to other things is darker, while the parts which aren’t are lighter…

I guess I’m trying to achieve a sort of wierd toon bevel.

The closest I got was using a sampler info with facing ratio but that’s not quite what I’m after.
