POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Line Producer is a key member of the feature film production management team.
You manage the budget, the day-to-day cinematic pipeline of the production, hire and manage key members of the crew, and negotiate deals with subcontractors. We are seeking an experienced CG feature animation production executive for this position with mature human resource management skills.
You are the Head of Production, and as such you are the production glue that holds our dynamic & creative organization together over far-flung geographies & cultures. You are involved in transforming the screenplay into a production plan, suggesting practical solutions and work splits between co-producers, creating the detailed overall production schedule, accurately estimating production costs in detail and scoping co-producer tasks and corresponding production budgets.
During pre-production, you work closely with the Directors, the Co-producer Production Manager(s), Art Director and Heads of Department to manage planned-vs-actual schedules & budgets over time, including hiring the western production crew, configuring the digital asset management system, and oversee all other pre-production activities.
During production and post-production, you are ultimately responsible for overseeing all activities, and for ensuring that the production is completed on time and within budget. This requires setting up and implementing financial monitoring systems, controlling production expenditures/materials, and controlling the progress of production, especially using the digital asset and project management systems.
You will also be responsible for ensuring a smooth migration of creative digital assets from the cinematic pipeline to the digital media pipelines (such as apps and digital “movie books”) and the creation of marketing materials such as trailers throughout the process.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Constantly look ahead to avoid production bottlenecks and other potential production problems.
• Project Management: Manage on-site & off-site human resources & facilities attached to the project.
• Liaise daily with the Co-Directors and remote Co-producers.
• Provide Executive-level Status Reports (plan-vs-actual) to off-site Producers.
• Chair Production Status Meetings with relevant project stakeholders.
• Team Alignment: Ensure the team understands the goals and deadlines for sequences, r&d projects, companion digital media, and marketing materials.
• Manage Supervisors: Motivate department heads to ensure quality and stay on schedule.
• Strategic Partner Relationship Management: You should be available for extended stays (weeks at a time) in various co-production locations (eg: China) to set up and/or co-ordinate work splits.
• Liaise as necessary with off-site companion digital media developers (apps, movie-books, etc.)
DESIRED SKILLS AND PLUSES
• Expert & proven track record in CG animation Feature Film production processes, cinematic pipeline design, innovation and management. Preferably within a multi-country co-production with Asia.
• Strong management skills motivating team of diverse cultures, capable of organising and coordinating people with enthusiasm, and tactfully resolving interpersonal conflicts when necessary.
• Experience regarding implications of platform choices, such as animation (Maya), rendering, and compositing. Stereoscopic experience is a bonus.
• Skilled at quick analysis, problem solving and pro-active decision making to meet daily/weekly challenges in context of longer term strategic goals, resource limitations and re-use of materials for future projects.
• Able to communicate effectively between offices internationally.
• Mature analytic decision maker in a strategy-driven cross-culture team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 3-5 years experience as a Line Producer on a CG animated feature.
• Candidate must have experience booking/managing crew, subcontractor negotiation, handling budget/tracking, & overall crew management skills, and maturely handling sensitive compensation rate data.
• A university level degree preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have “right to work” in Belgium already, but also have worked outside of Belgium at some point in their career (preferable in a native English speaking country).

RELATIONSHIP
This is a dedicated position based in Belgium. Independent contractor status preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Confident user of office productivity software (MS Word & Excel &/or Open Office, etc.)
• Experience configuring/using project and digital asset management software is essential (eg: Tactic).
• You must be fluent in written and verbal English.
• Mandarin skills a big plus, but not required. Dutch or French useful, but not required.
