Wowzers…
The text looks promising, but we’ll have to wait and see until we can actually see it in action.
I’m going to look at this more closely in a couple weeks, when I get some time for serious investigation. It sounds really promising. The best thing they could do is make it as detached from LW as possible, to try to attract Autodesk users/companies. No one wants to use Lightwave but we are all looking for something new and better, just like this offers.
Trying to set up a demo with them for GDC. If I have any luck, I’ll pass the word around and maybe some more of you can check it out as well. I want to be blown away.

Did you get this set up and if so, how did it go? Curious to hear about that…
No and I was quite upset (forgot to post the follow up). They said NewTek wasn’t going to be at GDC, that they would be at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) in Vegas this month, and show Lightwave there.
I was somewhat stung, and replied that they create a next-generation framework while many, many people are unhappy with Autodesk. I didn’t know what to think of the fact that they weren’t aggressively marketing it for games. It was quite disheartening, because I’d REALLY like to support the program, but the company doesn’t even think enough about games to go to the biggest conference of the year. I’ll need to sit on my opinion of this for a while until I can properly evaluate it- NewTek has left a bad taste in my mouth. AD fucks over their customers but at least they acknowledge we exist.
