so, i’ve decided to use human Ik ( actually to learn how to use it vith digital tutors vids ) and i bumped into my first problem.
Units in which i’m setting my character are meters but the default setup in Maya is centimeters, which is perfectly ok,right !? but, when i create humanIK after i’ve switched from centimeters - meters and start to add bones or remove bones via it’s settings panel the whole rig just vanishes. Can someone confirm or deny that this is in fact the issue with HumanIk, it seems to me that it only works with the default units setup of Maya.
thank you all for ur help !
( sry if my eng is bad )
You can always check if this is an unit issue by changing units. If you don’t know how to do that go to Window -> Setting/preferences -> Preferences -> Settings and change the Working Units.

Hi Ella!
well, yes, i actually did that but i was hoping that someone here knows a way to fix it so that the units DO NOT affect the HIK system at all, because now if I don’t use it in working units of centimeters it’s not really functional and none of the adjustments work on it, basically rig just doesn’t work in meters
I would recommend staying with centimeters. switching to meters causing a lot of issues through out maya.
yea, i guess i need to do that now well, i can always rigg it like that and then scale the char. after i skin it ( bind it to bones, or in this case joints ) thank you !

You know you don’t need to scale the rig just because you change units, right? Most nodes auto convert, so say you have a character that is 180 units in centimeter the height will be 1.8 units after you switch to meters. If you for examples exports with FBX you can chose in which units you want to export the rig and animations in.
