Hey i need to rig the wire in the image. Any idea how it can be done.
That depends on what you want to do. I suppose spline IK won’t work for you?
EDIT: I strongly suspect that you’re going to want to model that wire straight before rigging it BTW…
EDIT2: This might be one of those rare cases where you can use a rail extruded nurbs circle and rig the CVs of the rail. Make sure you keep your history intact. I’m guessing this is going to be rendered and that it’s not going into a runtime project (IE Game)?
The Animation is like, the wire connected to other device and take reading.
I want the wire need be stretch and also i need some in between controls so that i can rotate or translate from tat point.
i would create a spline ik with stretching only in the axis the joints point towards the next one. i think just clustering and attaching the cv’s of the spline curve to controls is enough (these controls could be parented in an fk fashion but i think that would be counter productive for animation knowing the way the object is handled)
another way would be using a curve positioned in the exact center of your wire and use the wire tool as deformer, but then you would need to seperate out the piece of the wire you want to deform and you will have to cluster the curve again to control
Thanks Peerke, your idea is more useful. I already tried with wire deformer, the only drawback i faced is i’m not able to stretch wire. Do you know any solution for it.
if you use the wire tool, with a big enough dropoff it should automatically be stretchable, but only in the parts it influences per vertice not over the entire length of the curve
