UI ARTIST

REALTIME WORLDS – creators of the no.1 hit game CRACKDOWN, are looking for a UI Artist to join the art team on their latest, cutting-edge, AAA project - APB. This role will focus specifically on the design and creation of User Interface graphics, helping to create a modern and innovative interactive experience.

Responsibilities

· Work with Lead Artist in designing overall User Interface “look and feel” solutions for a range of game styles and applications. Create graphics assets for various UI screens and elements.

· Work with and take direction from project User Interaction designers in implementation of User Interface Art. Also, work closely with project programmers in the building and testing of UI Artwork.

· Take responsibility for producing own work to a high standard and to any agreed schedule. Maintain communication with other artists and relevant project staff, and report to team and line managers as required.

· Present design ideas and artwork in such a way as to communicate these ideas clearly, explaining artistic and technical issues.

· Create final quality interface solutions using the Unreal 3 Editor and its tools.

Qualifications Required

· Degree or diploma from Art College in Games Development, Fine Art, Design or Art related course.

Experience Required

· At least 2 years experience in the industry.

· At least 1 year of experience as UI Artist.

· Experience of a full production cycle, from beginning to end, on at least 1 published game.

· Some prior experience working in the field of User Interaction.

Knowledge/Skills Required

· At least 3 years experience with industry standard 2-D package. Fireworks and Illustrator are acceptable, Photoshop experience essential.

· Must be skilled at creating detailed artwork using 2D Vector packages. Knowledge of 3D packages would be an advantage (3DSMax).

· Experience with the UI tools of the Unreal 3 Editor a definite advantage. Including the UI Editor, Kismet and Matinee.

· Must have very strong 2-D drawing skills.

· Ideally will have some Vector animation experience and a good understanding of basic animation principles.

· Must have solid design and composition skills, a keen interest in design overall and a sharp eye for up and coming trends and presentational style.

· An aptitude for problem-solving as well as an ability to think and act quickly and come up with effective solutions to challenging situations.

· A good communicator who is as comfortable and confident in talking to team members and project designers.

· Must be proficient in written communication including documenting aspects of UI Design and creation.

· Must be able to work well within a team.

· Must be able to buy into any established art vision of the game and ensure this is delivered in its entirety at the end of the project.

· Must be highly motivated and enthusiastic about this area of work.

· Should ideally have an active interest in video games.

· Should provide at least 2 recent references that demonstrate wherever possible suitability to the specific requirements of the role in question.
