Hello all,
I was considering organizing a get-together in the evening(s) during GDC . I was wondering if anyone familiar with the area had suggestions for places near GDC for TAs to socialize after dinner?

I’m in, but I don’t know either =) First timer too
we’ll probably be organizing something ad-hoc after the bootcamp on tuesday. there’s almost always dinner, drinks, and crawling on Friday. Seth did something at a bar on 4th last year that was pretty successful, will you be reprising that event, Seth?
Sadly, the big plan I had fell through due to poor communication on the bar’s part, but i’m still planning on at least getting us a table at Bucca on Friday for all the stragglers. There’s a bit of a barhop going on Sunday, completely informal, i’m going to meet up with some students and talk shop, would be cool if more of you industry types wanted to tag along, to be reprised Wednesday with a larger group. That’s all i got for now…We could also all meetup Wednesday and booth crawl en masse.
Tuesday we’ll end up heading somewhere I’m sure, thankfully it’s usually pretty light since people are just getting in, we can hit up annabelle’s, 4th street, I’d avoid the bear just cuz everyone goes there, and of course there’s always Chevy’s (you guys knew it was coming…)

Yes, i also think a trip to Nihon and Whiskey Thieves is on the docket at some point, that might be a smaller trip since they’re treks.
To that note, if people don’t mind a BIT of a walk, and i mean like…4-8 sf city blocks, there are tons of bars heading towards the mission that are alot of fun. I stayed on 8th and market last year, and if you walk back away from the convention center into the mission proper, it’s just a good time. I’m more than willing to lead an expedition down that way if anyone wants to just get away from the conference/convention center atmosphere for an evening…Ditto with the FD, there’s a great cocktail lounge, not to mention pizza and beer spot on or about 2nd and California-ish that’s…a pleasant stroll, not to mention tons of bars on the way…Like i said, i’m up for whatever if anyone wants to just go explore.
I walk two miles to work in snow up to my waist, 5 city blocks is not a walk!
I’m down for whatever- thanks for putting this together Seth, GDC sort of snuck up on me and I wasn’t able to set up any organized community stuff.
I am already from saturday in San Francisco. So if there are any plans for sunday, let me know 
ps: I don’t mind walking at all!

Eh no prob, i’m in the same sitch, totally got away from me, thankfully being in the Bay helps, hehe. I’ll put up the official thread tonight.
Do we want to figure that we can post anything marginally TAO-y to the board or to someone’s blog (rob, maybe?) so there’s somewhere to check?
There was some talk of going down to the Thirsty Bear Wednesday after Julian Love’s talk (which you should all go to!).
I’ll be there on Friday 9th… is there gonna be any meeting/beer drinking on Friday?

I’m new to the forum but I was the Bootcamp on Tuesday and the presentations were great, thank you for all!
I’m a rigger/ta who’s local to the bay area and I was wondering if this meetup is still happening. It would be a good time to get to know everyone and get more ideas talked out in an informal setting.
I asked a friend and she suggested the johncolins bar at 138 Minna Street @ New Montgomery.
