I am a part of the team behind OurBricks which lets you share and interact with 3D content right in the browser. Once the content is uploaded you can enable a forum to allow for the models to be embedded. Here is an example of what this looks like:

Having spent a fair amount of time on my portfolio website (<shamelessPlug>ericNevans.com</shamelessPlug>) of late, the application that first jumped to mind was that of using the tech as a means to showcase my portfolio content online. Of course at the moment, it seems that only the most up-to-date versions of Chrome and FireFox support the WebGL standard.
First concern whenever trying new 3d is whether or not common alt mb viewport navigation is adopted.
