Technical Animator/Artist on Halo Wars 2

Creative Assembly’s world-class console team is looking for an experienced Technical Animator/Artist with a passion for developing animation tools and pipelines.

The ideal candidate would have experience in supporting animation teams including tools, rigging, pipeline and general support.

Their responsibilities will include:

supporting animation teams;
communicating and interpreting between teams of varying disciplines (programmers, designers, artists, animators etc);
collaborating with other TA’s across multiple projects to;
Use and improve an existing animation tool base;
Use and improve an existing rigging system; and
Use and improve existing animation workflows and export/import pipelines.

Requirements:

Experience as a Technical Animator/Artist on 3+ shipped games
Previous experience creating and managing all aspects of animation workflows
Highly proficient in Maya
Highly proficient with Python and able to expand on existing toolsets
Experience with rigging solutions (modular and FACS based)
Excellent problem solving and communication skills
Passion for development.

Pluses:

Great understanding of Pymel,
Working experience with C++
Working experience with Max and Maxscript
Working experience with Motionbuilder
Experience/ knowledge of Blend Trees

Technical Artist on Total War

This position will work with our PC Technical Art team to help develop our art pipeline and assist the wider art team. Although we are open to all levels of experience, it is require that you have at least one shipped game to your credit.

This key artist will be expected to:

work with other Technical Artists to support the art team day-to-day;
liaise with Art Leads and Programming team to develop new asset pipelines;
develop scripted tools to expedite artist workflows;
debug and assist fixing art asset issues within the game; and
ensure high quality and efficiency of art asset production through the entire art pipeline.
Requirements

Knowledge of 3ds Max (or similar 3D package).
Proven experience with scripting languages – Maxscript; Mel; Python.
Understanding of art/animation game pipelines.
Understanding of character setup, including rigging and skinning.
Understanding of shaders.
Ability to explain and document technical solutions.
Good communication skills and ability to work with others to solve issues.
Passion for games!

Trainee Technical Artist on Halo Wars 2

As a console Technical Art trainee, you will develop your art skills on a high-profile console project, with the opportunity to gain insight on content from beginning to completion.

The traineeship will run from September 2015 onsite at our studio in Horsham, West Sussex. All traineeship offers will be confirmed by September 2015.

This unique traineeship is paid in partnership with Creative Skillset, and all applicants must eligible under the Creative Skillset traineeship criteria. Further information about this programme can be found on http://creativeskillset.org/.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be developed to:

learn Maxscript and specialised game art software
support the art team with any first line tools requests and test data
stress test in-house tools and pipelines
perform R&D on any potential 3rd party tools
