CAT 'Add Rigging' via maxscript?

Hello all, I am trying to remove some geometry from our CAT rigs, wondering if anyone has experience doing this via maxscript?

More info: if you select your CAT Parent, and go to the modifier panel, and scroll to the bottom, there is an “Add Rigging” button. For whatever reason, the artists put the skinned mesh geometry as part of the rig. The issue is, that I need to remove the geo from the rig, so that I can delete the geo. If I were to delete the geo BEFORE removing it from the rig… the whole rig gets deleted.

I am trying to do this via maxscript because it needs to happen during part of a batch process. I have been told that this is possible if the geo has been ‘added’ to a bone in the rig… but NOT possible if the geo has been ‘added’ to the CAT Parent. The latter is our situation here, so I am wondering if there is any way around this?
