Camera Lenses distortion. Is this possible?

Hey guys I started fiddling a bit more with cameras with my last setup being three cameras then a single camera, however I have run into a problem, namely the camera lens. The issue that arises is that most if not all cameras have a curved lens. as a result when i try to increase the camera horizontal and vertical aperture. The sides become more and more warped. since the focal point i in the center. I was wondering if you could edit the lens to be more of a square type of lens instead of a fish eye lens and if it was possible to do it in may or any other software. In including composting software similar to aftereffects and nuke. In addition I was wondering if you could possibly make your own lenses by chance? which would be pretty great if possible.

Thanks as always and have a good one!

What you’re hoping for isn’t really possible: you’re ultimately projecting a conic section onto a plane, which is inherently distorting.

You can minimize the artifact by using narrower lenses, which will minimze the distorion. You can also stitch lots of images together panorama style, which will still have vertical distortion but which will have less horizontal distortion since adjacent lenses overlap.

adobe lightroom has options to de-warp photographs. you pick you lens make and model and it will correct for the specific lens. i’m sure most photo editing software has similar features.
