[Book] Game development Tools

http://gamedevelopmenttools.com/

The first volume of Game Development Tools is out… They are now collecting proposals for the second volume and deadline is Sept 1st.

I think us in the Tech-Artist community could make some great and valuable contributions to this series and eventually share our research / developments with others and perhaps HELP further to define some standards like all the other disciplines and maybe tighten the tools engineering <—> Tech-art discipline more when it comes to roles, tech flow, sharing / reusing etc…

Areas we could contribute at:
Content Pipeline tools (creation, streamlining, management )
Collada import/export/inspection tools
3rd Party tools
Importers/Exporters
and maybe even Sound Tools ( this place needs some serious love in terms of streamlining )

They are looking for more topics than the ones I listed above including ones not listed, so if you have a good proposal then give it a shot maybe?

Best regards

How about “stay away from Collada as it’s not a good format”. Done.

What’s wrong with COLLADA? I’ll grant you that the format is a bit verbose and overly loose. However, the format has served us well, particularly within the context of UGC content (which in our case comes in from half a dozen or so different DCC apps).
