Job Title: Rigger

Role Purpose:
Rare is currently looking for an experienced Rigger based at our new location in Fazeley Studios, Birmingham.
Ideally, the candidate needs to be highly skilled and show experience in rigging production in a games or film environment. The candidate must be able to identify pipeline or workflow improvements and be able to write scripts and tools to aid and maintain the production of rigging, and animation tools, for a self contained team. Candiates will need to be highly motivated, passionate and able to produce high level content to deadline. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to manage work on own initiative.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain rigging and pipeline standards of rare development rigging for an offsite team.
• Support the animation team with character setup, rig maintenance and troubleshooting technical problems.
• Manage and plan work according to team necessity, and integrate with the existing project management schemes
• Support animation production process, including the integration of key frame, mocap, procedural and run-time dynamic animation.
• Help track efficiency of asset pipeline and processes throughout the life of the project, improving and enhancing them where necessary.
• Work with other disciplines to ensure the quality of the characters and animation for all aspects of the project.
• Check assets for technical integrity before integrating them into the game.
• Develop art pipeline solutions.
• Keep animation leads and management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues.
Experience and knowledge:
• Experience in a production studio, employed as a Rigger or Character TD.
• A degree-level qualification in a related subject (e.g. arts, design, computer sciences).
• Experience of animation or rigging within games, film or TV desirable.
• A good working knowledge of a major 3D package is essential.
• Ability to script using Mel, Python, C++,C# or any equivalent language
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure.
• Ability to document and clearly explain rigging systems and processes to other team members.
