Axis Animation is looking to hire an experienced Maya Technical Director to maintain, support and trouble-shoot existing Maya workflows, through close collaboration with our Rigging, Layout, Animation and Pipeline teams.
The ideal candidate should have a deep knowledge of animation pipelines and workflow, and have previous experience in a similar role. Candidates are required, and must be eligible at time of application, to work onsite in Glasgow, starting ASAP for a minimum of 3 months, with strong likelihood of working stretching beyond this.
Responsibilties:
Maintain, and improve where necessary, techniques and processes that increase animation quality and efficiency across disciplines, departments and teams.
Work closely with the rigging, layout, animation and pipeline team to develop processes to solve production and project challenges.
Write utility scripts and tools to streamline new or updated processes and workflows where necessary.
Work with production management and department leads to prioritize tasks.
Keep CG Supervisor and/or leads and management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues.
Requirements:
Industry experience as a technical artist with knowledge of art pipelines.
Degree level qualification in a related subject (eg arts, design, computer sciences).
Possess strong creative problem solving skills.
In depth knowledge of Maya.
Experience writing Python and MEL scripts.
Rigging background preferred.
Any motion capture experience is highly beneficial.
Ability to clearly communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
Ability to support themselves and to work under their own initiative.
