Apex Clothing setup Help

Hi guys!

I’ve been playing around with the Apex clothing system in 3ds max for the past few weeks. I have a few questions that hopefully someone may be able to answer.

  1. How do I deal with multi layered clothing. Perfect example is the Samaritan demo from epic. Straps and coat interaction and difference in materials (Metal buckles at the end of straps).

  2. I am having problems getting the self collision to work properly. Playing with thickness does not help.

  3. I’m unable to get backstop offset or radius to work properly.

  4. How do I get a physical Mesh and Graphical mesh setup going?

I have many more questions but hopefully I can get theses main ones answered.

** yes I did see the tutorials from Nvidia. They are nice but they do not go in depth.

I have only used Apex in Maya, not Max but i am presuming they’re similar. I have also only used it lightly but i’ll try to answer one of your questions :
