Hi,
I work in a small archviz studio and i am trying to streamline workflow and settings etc.
I was having a look at the 3dsmax.ini file in order to try to standardize the max settings on everybodies computer. In general it would work out fine if i would copy it over to other computers so that people would have the same settings as on my computer.
But i am running into a problem now. The users that are loged in with a different username get errors when using my ini file. This because severall paths in the ini file are set to my username instead of their name.
For example:
Temp=C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsMaxDesign\2010 - 64bit\enu emp
In this path “admin” is my username. But if joe would log in with his username “joe” then this name would need to be replaced.
I was trying to replace the username with %username%, as you would do in a batchscript for example. But that did not work out. So i was wondering if there is a simple solution to this problem.
Perhaps i need to set max to look for the ini file the root of the max install?
And as of next week we will be setting up a renderfarm. So i was wondering if there is also a simple setup to be sure that all renderservers will be running the same 3dsmax.ini file.
Any help is more then welcome.
Best regards,
Joost
